This colorful, interactive stack contains over 150 cards of information on elements , chemical families and trends that occur as one goes across a period and down a family on the periodic table. This program took 3rd place in the 1998 HyperStudio International Multimedia Contest .

The properties of all 109 elements are listed in the program. Clicking on an element displays it's properties. Students can graph this data to find if trends occur as they go down a family or across a period. The Elementary Scavenger Hunt is an activity use to familiarize the student with the table.

Periodic Trends graphs some of the major trends that occur on the Periodic Table.

An important trend on the periodic table is atomic radii. Once graphed it is easy to see that as one goes across a period atoms generally becomes smaller in size.

Sometimes two representations of the same date can help students understand and predict trends.

Another trend graphed in the Electronic Periodic Table is electronegativity - a property that indicates how strongly an atom attracts electrons in a chemical bond.

Oxidation number is an important concept for the student to grasp if they are to understand the chemical activity of an element.
The Electronic Periodic Table also includes an Internet Connect that will take students out to other periodic tables on the internet and Tom Lehrer's "The Elements Song".
