Webster defines procedure as "the series of actions, operations, or motions involved in the accomplishment of an end." Procedures enable humans to function in society knowing the acceptable and efficient ways to do things.
Classroom procedures are for the benefit of the student - it will help you do your work with less confusion and thus help you be successful in class. Procedures should not be confused with discipline - procedures are how things are done, discipline is how people behave. It is very important that you learn and follow classroom procedures in Physical Science.
When you enter the
room:
1. Look at the Prime Time screen at the front of the room for
important information and classwork.

your notebook.

the end of class or until Mr. Gilliland dismisses you.
2. Remain in your seats until the bell rings to end class.
Tardy Students
1. Tardy is defined as entering the class
after the bell has rung. The door closes when the bell rings - if you
are not in the room you are either tardy or absent.
2. Students entering the classroom tardy will have points deducted
from their employability grade.
3. Consult the SHS Behavior Management Plan found in Info/Forms to
find out the consequences of multiple tardies.
Absent Slips
1. If you were absent and have an excuse
issued by Attendance, place it in the absence note box on Mr. G's
desk when you come to class. Mr. Gilliland will return it once he
marks it in his roll book. Keep you absence slips in a safe place at
home so you can produce them if the need occurs.
2. Please have an excused slip from the attendance office within 3
days of returning from an absence. If you do not it is counted as an
unexcused absence.

what we are doing in class that day.
If you wish to ask or answer a
question in class:
1. Raise your hand and wait to be called
on.

Turning in homework
1. Please check that your assignment is
completed and is labeled correctly* before coming to class.
2. If your assignment contains more than one sheet of paper use the
stapler at your table to staple it together. Be sure your name
appears on the top sheet.
3. When Mr. Gilliland calls for it, pass your assignment
across your table to the student sitting in the aisle.

work except for graphing data.
Neatness and
Legibility

When you are absent.
1. It is a student's responsibility to find
out what they missed when they were absent. When you return to school
ask Mr. Gilliland what you need to make up.
2, If you can, check the calendar and do the assignment before you
return. If need the computers or lab to complete an assignment come
in before or after school. Mr. Gilliland will instruct the class on
what days the lab is open before and after school.
3. If you are absent the day an assignment is due, it is due the next
time you come to class.
4. If you are absent the day an assignment is assigned, you have the
number of days you missed to make it up.
IMPORTANT: Friends don't ask friends to see their homework! Do not give another student your papers to either look at or copy. This is considered cheating and will result in a zero for that assignment for both students. If another student request help with their homework you can help them - just don't have your paper out where it can be seen. When you have your paper visible other students can copy it. Copying assignments is not tolerated in HPS. Do your own work and everything will be fine. Do not ask your friends to see their homework - you are placing them in a position where they can receive a zero. |

excuses and will not be accepted.
